Parental Role in Our School
Your Children, Your Children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls. For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite And he bends you with his might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the Archer’s hand be for Bliss For even as He loves the arrow that flies, So He loves also the bow that is stable.
– Khalil Gibran
The school believes that the child’s education can be best only when the school and the parents are in partnership and agreement of it. Parents should arrange for appropriate learning environments at home to enable the children to learn, without which children will not be able to perform to their potential. Therefore it is important to understand that your role as parents must be played responsibly by you.
Our students are not encouraged to take tuitions. If parents play their role in the child’s education as expected by the school, then the school takes responsibility of ensuring that every child attains a basic minimum level of learning (unless the child has learning disabilities) in the areas of Mathematics & Language over a period of time.
It was your choice as parents to select the school of your child after having read the details of the vision and its practice. Hence we suggest that you had good faith and knowledge of our school’s vision and confidence in our time tested methodology which is child centric and integral in approach. With your trust that we enjoy, you are requested not to interfere with our academic practices / methodologies. Nevertheless, for doubts and clarification you are welcome to discuss with the Principal/Head.
The school takes the responsibility of providing learning experiences for all the concepts required at middle-school level of ICSE. You are required to follow-up/revise with the learning outcomes periodically. If this is ensured, the child does not need any tuition. However, if it is felt that the child needs extra attention and if you are not able to guide the child for any reason, please see that the child undergoes only revision session rigorously rather than learning a new chapter. Please avoid sending children to tutorial classes which conduct curriculum in their own pace, thereby creating conflicts in the minds of the students. We recommend periodic meeting with concerned teachers in this regard.
Parents should ensure the maximum attendance possible so that your child does not miss out on the learning at school. Although the school will take steps to facilitate the student back on track in case of absenteeism due to ill health, there will be severe limitations to how much the student is able to cope up. Therefore, 75% attendance is compulsory for promotion to the next class unless under exceptional medical circumstances. It is required of the parent to create and nurture an environment conducive and appropriate to a school going child by planning social engagements in line with the school vacations. Also, please ensure that family outings and other gatherings are planned only during holidays. Else, the students’ learning is at stake.
